چکیده

Many investigators have reported on the fine structure of the boundary between dermis and epidermis, but their results were different from one another. Herxheimer (1916), working on the normal and abnormal human skin, pointed out that the cytoplasmic processes of the epithelial cell project toward the dermis and they are intimately associated with the translucent basement membrane which exists just beneath the epidermis. Fr iebo es (1920) said that in the intersp4ce between epidermis and dermis there is a " Verfilzungszone " consisting of reticular fibre and the cytoplasmic processes of the basal cells of the epidermis project into this zone. Homma (1922), Kogoi (1923), Hoepke (1925) and others, investigating on the boundary between epidermis and dermis, reported that there are intimate relations between the reticular fibre of dermis and the cytoplasmic processes of the basal epidermal cells. Szo dor ay (1931) stated that the junction between basal layer of the epidermis and dermis was just like " two brushes fitted together along their bristle surfaces ". However, Dick (1947) pointed out that it had not been proved whether processes of the epitherial cells fit into an open reticular mesh-work or whether the basal cytoplasm of the epitherial cells is penetrated by the free ends of reticulum fibrils. Od land (1950) studied the relationship between the basal cells of the epidermis and the underlying dermis to solve the problem which Dick presented. (MI and says that the processes of the cytoplasm of the basal epitherial cells fit into the meshwork of the reticular fibres and that the visual effect of the endings of the reticular fibres was the seeming appearance of the bulbous ending, and says that what actually takes place is that when the reticular strand is cut in histological sections at certain angles by

On the attachment between the lamina propria mucosae and the epithelium in esophagus.

Sakata (1954) studied the fine structure of the attachment between lamina propria mucosae and the epithelium of the gingiva and the hard palate, and compared her observation with that of Odland (1950) , who reported on the attachment between epidermis and dermis. The present study deals with the junction between the mucous epithelium and the lamina propria mucosae of the esophagus of the adult ...

Schwannoma in the Posterior Hard Palate and Anterior Mandibular Gingiva: a report of two cases

Background: Schwannoma is a benign tumor which usually presents as a solitary slow-growing painless mass. Approximately 25–48% of all schwannomas occurs in the head and neck region and is found rarely in oral cavity, about 1% of head and neck cases. Tongue is the most common site, followed by buccal mucosa, palate, floor of the mouth, jaw, gingiva and lips. This tumor may prese...

Soft Tissue Reconstruction with Free Gingival Graft Technique following Excision of a Fibroma

Background. Oral fibromas are benign, asymptomatic, smooth surfaced, firm structured tumoral lesions that originate from gingival connective tissue or periodontal ligament. Histologically, they are nodular masses characterized by a dense connective tissue, surrounded by stratified squamous epithelium. Case Report. This case report includes the clinical, radiographical, and histological findings...

Distribution of plasma cells in normal rectal mucosa.

In a survey of 36 histologically normal rectal biopsies, plasma cell counts were recorded at different depths of the lamina propria. The necessity of surveying the lamina propria at every level from the muscularis mucosae to the epithelium, in order to obtain an accurate estimate of plasma cell frequency is demonstrated. The relative accuracy of counting smaller areas of lamina propria is teste...

Assessment of the histological quality of endoscopic biopsies obtained from the canine gastro-esophageal junction.

OBJECTIVE In the dog biopsy samples from the gastro-esophageal junction (GEJ) are rarely obtained during routine gastroscopy. The aim of this pilot study was to assess the histological quality of endoscopic biopsies sampled from the canine esophagus and cardia. It was hypothesised that it is possible to sample adequate specimens from these sites. MATERIALS AND METHODS For this purpose 10 dogs...
